About Dr. Hallowell

Dr. Edward (Ned) Hallowell, a child and adult psychiatrist, is the founder of The Hallowell Center for Cognitive and Emotional Health in Sudbury, MA (with additional offices in Needham, MA and New York City). He is the author of more than a dozen books, including the best-selling Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction, hailed as groundbreaking works on Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

A graduate of Harvard College and Tulane School of Medicine, and former faculty member at the Harvard Medical School, Dr. Hallowell is one of the world’s foremost experts on ADD. He has led the effort to “de-stigmatize” the condition with his galvanizing, “strengths-based” approach to its treatment. In his numerous books, speeches and media appearances, Dr. Hallowell offers up a practical, prescriptive guide that shows how to get the most out of life with ADD, no matter what age you are. He also offers helpful advice on surviving in today’s ultra-fast, ultra-competitive “attention deficit society,” managing worry, raising happy children, and the art of forgiveness.

Dr. Hallowell is a frequent guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show and has appeared on 20/20, 60 Minutes, Dateline, The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, PBS and NPR. He has also been written about in Newsweek, The New York Times, US News and World Report, and the Harvard Business Review. Dr. Hallowell doesn’t just “talk the talk,” he also “he walks the walk.” Dr. Hallowell has ADD himself, which affords him a unique perspective on the diagnosis and treatment of the condition.
